Went windsurfing at Marazion, when I arrived the wind seemed somewhat gusty
and although most people were on 5.5's they didn't seem to be going that
well, so I rigged my 6.4 Trixx and took out My Naish board. I had a good
hour and a half but by which time the wind had filled in so I was spending
a lot of time overpowered, which didn't help with gybing or wave riding,
but set me up for some big jumps, although they were lacking somewhat in
control. After some cake I changed down to my 5.4 NR (including the duck
tape repairs) and although in my rush I seemed to have set the boom higher
than usual it seemed to work really well and I was getting some good runs,
some controlled jumps and even making my gybes, unfortunately after a miss
timed gybe on the inside I noticed the front of my board didn't look right
and there was a great big crack along the rail about 8 - 10 inches long, so
I headed straight for the beach as it wasn't worth continuing to sail as it
would just get worse. So that was the end of my session, pretty good apart
from the damage. I did get a break after leaving the beach, I noticed that
Lodey's was open so I dropped my board off for repair, they weren't sure if
they could have it done for next weekend but as I can't sail it anyway I
guess it's not vital, well unless it's windy next weekend of course,
fingers crossed for a quick fix.
